Position Summary 
The Buyer and Visual Merchandising Manager manages Heath Home products' procurement, inventory, and merchandising across Heath’s showrooms and e-commerce platform. This role ensures the right products are available in the right quantities at the right time to meet sales and margin goals. It involves strategic vendor management, product assortment planning, and sales performance analysis to drive profitability and maintain a compelling, well-curated selection. Additionally, this position develops and executes visual merchandising strategies to enhance the customer experience and align with Heath’s brand vision. Collaboration with the creative, operations, showroom, and warehouse teams ensures a seamless product flow from procurement to sell-through. This role manages an Assistant Buyer and an in-store Visual Merchandiser. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain a compelling, high-quality product mix by collaborating with the Design Director and creative team, using data-driven insights to inform product selection and discontinuation to keep the assortment fresh and aligned with Heath’s brand and customer demand. 
  • Ensure reliable product sourcing by building strong vendor relationships, setting expectations for quality, delivery, and pricing, and negotiating terms to support operational efficiency and product availability.  
  • Support product sell-through and enhance customer engagement by managing inventory flow to showrooms and maintaining accurate, complete, and visually appealing online product listings to boost both in-store and online sales.
  • Develop and execute a procurement strategy that aligns with sales trends, vendor lead times, and showroom needs to achieve target sell-through rates. 
  • Ensure seamless inventory and sales operations by managing product information, pricing, and SKUs in NetSuite, working with logistics to determine landed costs to support accurate forecasting, reporting, and financial planning.  
  • Maximize product performance by tracking and analyzing sales data, adjusting buying plans, and recommending pricing and markdown strategies to meet gross margin targets and minimize excess inventory.
  • Create a consistent and inspiring customer experience by developing and implementing visual merchandising strategies, conducting showroom walkthroughs, and providing merchandising direction to reinforce Heath’s brand identity.  

Qualifications 

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 5- 7 years of experience in strategic procurement, supplier management, and visual merchandising
  • 2 years of people manager experience
  • Strong ability to analyze sales data and make informed product decisions
  • Experience managing product lifecycles from buying through showroom placement
  • Highly detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to balance creativity with business-driven decision-making
  • Experience with inventory management systems

Work Environment/ Hours/ Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position, working Monday through Friday. The Heath Team is distributed across California, with offices in Sausalito and San Francisco. While we welcome remote work, time together each week in person is valuable and important, this role is based out of our San Francisco offices in the Mission District, with regular visits to our store locations in the Ferry Building and in Sausalito several times a month. And occasional travel to the Los Angeles Showroom 1-2 times per year. Remote days for this position are up to 2 days per week. This position pays $115,000 - $135,000, based on experience.
