The Showroom Sales Supervisor supports the Showroom management team particularly in the areas of customer service, in preparing the store for business each day, and in understanding and implementing closing procedures and proper stock handling. This role sits between the sales team and the manager and should represent to the sales team the highest example in all areas of the sales associate role, most especially in the area of customer service and the customer experience. The Showroom Sales Supervisor must lead by example at all times and set the tone and expectation for the retail team in all areas of the business, and they must approach this responsibility with pride and a true sense of ownership.
_ Ensure that each customer is greeted and offered service as they enter the showroom, and checked in with throughout their visit as appropriate. Ensure that the showroom team understands that this is without exception our number one priority in the showroom and the most important expectation we have of our retail team.
_ Ensure that each customer has the best service experience possible within the Heath Showroom regardless of whether they are a traditional retail, dinnerware, tile or trade customer.
_ Lead by example - demonstrates the highest standards of customer service and motivates the staff to provide an exceptional customer experience. Coach to motivate and encourage the best performance from your team.
_ Work with the Showroom manager to provide the sales team with the appropriate training to handle all customer types and provide the appropriate kinds of services.
_ Work with the Showroom managers to provide effective floor management and ensure staff coverage in all areas of the store at all times. With some exceptions, there must be a manager on duty leading the sales team at all times.
_ Handle all POS procedures accurately and be confident in all transaction types including exchanges, gift certificate generation and any other service related topics that help support Heath’s vision of creating and allowing for a wonderful customer experience for all of our customer types. Ensure team is confident and consistent tagging customer information to Ivend sales to establish client history and build database.
_ Be an early learner/knower/communicator; helping to identify all varieties of opportunities and continuously improve our work experience, as well as, and most importantly, the customer’s experience.
_ Take ownership.
_ Lead, demonstrate and foster an environment of clear, open, honest communication and progressive feedback on all topics ranging from daily operations through to the Heath company vision. Be a coach for all staff members and the right hand of the Store Managers; communicating and keeping them in the loop on all things showroom related.
_ Ability to think through complex issues and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities.
_ Demonstrate effective communication, organization and leadership skills at all times.
_ Support the Heath company vision, enjoy working in an ever changing and progressing work environment and be able to take a leadership position with the team during times of change. Maintain a flexible, collaborative, and professional demeanor at all times.
_ Work with the Showroom manager by making suggestions to ensure that the showroom floor is properly staffed at all times to provide the great customer service that Heath customers expect; that all operational activities are planned and scheduled including stock deliveries, floor moves, cleaning, re-pricing etc any activity that is store-operations related. Keep focus on the customer experience first and plan / prioritize tasks effectively.
_ Be prepared to act quickly and decisively in situations where there is unexplained loss and partner with Showroom manager to ensure appropriate action is taken.
_ Onboard and train new team members, work together with management and HR to continuously improve and define our onboarding and training program. Focus on key categories to ensure team is confident in the storytelling and ordering process to achieve business goals. Approach challenges in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Operational Best Practices
_Responsible for ensuring the store meets company guidelines in opening and closing standards, staff and zone coverage, cash handling and store security.
_ The role of the supervisor is to support the management team in all appropriate tasks concerning the efficient and effective day to day operations of the store. These tasks include cycle counts, transfer receiving, price label auditing, handing breakage and helping to minimize shrink, and other tasks as assigned by the manager.
_ Ensure store standards are met and maintained, i.e., visuals, cleanliness, signage, safety, etc.-Lead by example and ensure associates comply with all Company policies and procedures.
_ Responsible for ensuring that the fixtures and interior of the store are clean, in good repair, and free of noticeable damage. Also responsible for the store exterior and outside areas that are viewed by the customer.
_ Someone who is passionate about being involved with event planning from developing menu ideas, potentially working extended shifts to get the job done, assisting managers with coordinating, shopping for and assembling interesting and thoughtful presentations to compliment the story behind the event. No events experience required for this role, but enthusiasm is an absolute must.
_ Calculates and communicates daily IRL sales targets to the team and works alongside staff to achieve sales goals. Fills out and completes the daily sales sheet and as required.
_ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
_ Ability to lift, reach and grasp 30 lbs of ceramic dinnerware/tile and to push/pull carts and bins of merchandise repeatedly throughout the day.
_ Daily showroom activities, including processing of shipments, merchandising product, and order fulfillments.
_ Excellent organizational and leadership skills; professional and positive approach at all times.
_ Reputation for producing excellent customer service and as such, great sales.
_ Record of leading and inspiring your team, communicating/training as needed. Track record of providing positive, supportive and effective leadership to your team.
_ Strong analytical skills, good at math and calculations, a self-starting problem solver.
_ A strong and clear communicator with a sense of humor. Willing to communicate potentially difficult topics to team and Showroom Manager, using tact and discretion, and always coming to the conversation with a solution in mind.
