The UX Designer at Heath is responsible for extending the rich and complex experience of Heath to our recently re-designed website. Heathceramics.com is the source for purchasing and learning more about Heath Ceramics online; the site neatly integrates an e-commerce store featuring 2,300+ unique SKUs with resources for selling tile, event information for our physical locations, a regularly updated behind-the-scenes blog, and much more. We’re a vertically integrated company that sells directly and our online store is our 5th, and fastest growing, showroom. This newly-created role will be an integral part of the team helping to direct and shape the future of Heath online, in pursuit of creating a wonderful end to end experience for customers and visitors alike.
Under the supervision of Creative Systems Designer, the UX Designer will work closely with Heath’s external development partners and internal teams (engineering, design, and product) to craft detailed experiences, flows, and interactions that serve our business and serve our customers. What sets Heath apart from many companies is that we do it all ourselves — we make our own products (real, physical ceramics) and along with other products that we source, sell them through our own physical and online showrooms. You’ll have access to our entire team — from manufacturing to showroom to shipping and warehouse — to learn from their experiences and inform your design work.
You’ll be expected to utilize your full range of design skills — from product to interaction to visual design — in order to problem solve at each step of the process, with a focus on following web best practices and our “scrappy, not crappy” mentality. Whether it is mapping out user journeys in flow diagrams, creating high level wireframes, detailing high fidelity mockups, working with the frontend team to implement design solutions, or iterating on your designs once they’ve been implemented, you’ll have a hand in it all.
