About Our Facility
Our newest retail space, in the urban core of San Francisco. You'll find everything Heath: dinnerware, tableware, tile, and good designs for the tabletop and home. We have an honest to goodness retail and tile showroom, plus a pop-up annex (featuring a rotating selection of beautiful things), gallery space, viewing court, the Heath Collective, and Tartine Manufactory, which serves coffee, lunch, and other treats. And, at the center of all of this activity is our factory, where we produce our Heath tile daily.
As we follow our plan towards zero-to-landfill, sustainability factors into every decision at Heath. Our dual site custodian will help to execute on our LEAN vision by assisting with a variety of related projects at our 1890 Bryant Street Warehouse and our San Francisco Factory and Showroom at 2900 18th Street.
We need someone who has a positive attitude and outlook, who is friendly, flexible and approachable. This person is responsible for keeping our building and grounds in clean and orderly condition. This is a very physical position and responsibilities include heavy cleaning duties.
There will be construction going on in the building, and this role may also help to keep those areas clean too. There may be some routine maintenance activities, as well as notifying management of needed repairs.
_ Order janitorial and Honor Bar supplies
_ Lead on internal and external event setup and teardown
_ Assist LEAN Team with ongoing projects to responsibly work waste back into our products and process for full circle production
_ Keep all 12 bathrooms clean, serviced and supplied on a daily basis
_ Mop and sweep floors
_ Keep all surfaces in the break room clean, neat and orderly
_ Keep trash bins emptied on a regular basis, and deal w/ recycling of all kinds
_ Keep the surrounding sidewalks swept and free from trash
_ Take care of the Showroom and entrance areas around the building and keep the urban grounds looking great
_ Work independently once trained
_ Follow safety guidelines
_ Commitment to quality
_Work closely with facilities staff on facilities maintenance, utilizing mechanical and electrical skills
Physical Requirements (Medium to Heavy)
_ The ability to transport furniture, refuse, and other materials (up to 35 lbs. at a time).
_ Other activities, including climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, repetitive motion, grasping, and feeling.
Visual Acuity Requirements (including color, depth perception, and field vision)
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: cleaning and maintaining surfaces; visual inspection of machinery. The worker will also need visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
_ A minimum of 2 years janitorial and/or facilities experience
_ Minimum 1 year facilities experience
_ Someone who can be on their feet all day and be able to lift up to 50 lbs
_ A person with good communication skills- must be able to speak, read and write in English
_ Recent forklift experience very desirable, however, training and certification is available
_ Experience in Zero Waste environments
_ Prior work in a LEAN manufacturing or related environment
An ideal candidate has very good attention to detail, works rapidly and is always mindful of quality. MUST follow safety procedures. Must have a positive attitude and foster a team environment. MUST be willing to learn from experienced personnel during a training period. Good communication skills are required.

Three (3) Months
Average of 40 hours per week, non-exempt, at a time agreed upon by the Facilities Supervisor.
Overtime may be required.
Off days: (Fr/Sat) or (Sun/Mon) or (Mon/Tues)
Hourly based on Union Wage Scale. Heath’s production teams are part of the ILWU Local 6.
