Position Summary

This role is responsible for inspecting, packing, and organizing fired tile, ensuring each order is accurate and meets quality standards. Key tasks include identifying defects, recording tile losses, packing tile into boxes, and staging finished product according to the correct client order. Once complete, all work orders must be accurately entered into Netsuite.

The role includes an eight-month training period and requires developing a strong understanding of our full glaze range, acceptable glaze variations, tile sizes and shapes, and quality control (QC) standards—which may evolve over time. Success in this role depends on attention to detail, consistency, and adaptability.


Responsibilities

  • Sort fired tile by identifying first- and second-quality pieces based on current QC standards
  • Record and enter sorted totals into Netsuite for production and sales orders
  • Box and label tile accurately, ensuring all required information is included
  • Organize and stage tile on carts for final quality checks
  • Maintain working knowledge of all glaze finishes, tile shapes, and sizes
  • Prepare and label tile samples and support related QC tasks as needed
  • Track daily output and assist team members with production flow

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
  • Ability to work efficiently and follow written instructions accurately
  • Comfortable with basic math, counting, and using computers or tablets
  • Clear verbal and written communication; legible handwriting
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude; patient, flexible, and calm under pressure

Physical Requirements (Medium to Heavy)

  • Regular lifting of molds (10–25 lbs); up to 1,000+ pieces formed daily
  • Repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions
  • Regular standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and other physical activity required in a production environment 
  • Visual Acuity Requirements: Must have close vision, depth perception, and field vision to inspect materials, operate equipment safely, detect small defects, read measurements, and assess product quality and machinery accuracy.

Work Environment/ Hours / Compensation

This position is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site role at our San Francisco Factory & Showroom. The hours for this position are 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The rate for this position is $25.00/hr.
